JOB OVERVIEW
The Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for the qualification of donor prospects to enhance the cultivation process and enable the development of strategic philanthropic relationships. The Prospect Research Analyst plays a critical role in the identification and initial qualification of new donor prospects to maximize organizational revenue targets and growth plans. The Role contributes to the data enrichment of donor records in the CRM database through the selective addition of pertinent information.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Qualification of existing donor prospects.
- Prepare comprehensive donor reports through the review and strategic analysis of media, financial documents, fee-based subscription databases, CRM database, and the internet.
- Undertake donor capacity analysis and relationship mapping to enhance the cultivation process and enable appropriate solicitation levels.
- Interact with frontline fundraisers in the Leadership Giving, Corporate Partnerships, and Estate & Gift Planning teams to discuss information requests and project requirements.
Identification and qualification of new donor prospects (lead generation).
- Proactively identify and assess new donor prospects for fundraiser engagement through creative data mining, and analytical and research skills to connect interest to organizational priorities.
- Prospect identification includes individuals, corporations, foundations, associations, and other entities and the investigation of applicable resources.
- Create and present prospect lists with concise, well-documented and sourced rationale for prospect inclusion.
Enables pipeline management through CRM utilization.
- Contribute to the data enrichment of donor records in the CRM database through the selective addition of pertinent information.
- Identify key donor information to enable evolving data segmentation and assessment. Garner stakeholder agreement through ongoing discussion with the Pipeline and DAS teams for adoption.
- Collaborate with the Pipeline Management team to develop data strategies and align projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) preferred. Knowledge of core prospect research methodologies, including capacity analysis, data mining, relationship mapping, and advanced web searching.
- 3 to 5 years of related experience.
- Utilization of fee-based third-party data sources (iWave, CharityCAN).
- Assess, compile, and synthesize data from multiple and disparate resources.
- Collaboration with frontline fundraiser teams.
- Excellent communication skills including demonstrated proficiency in English and in French languages (reading, writing, spoken).
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize and analyze confidential information with discretion. Familiarity with privacy legislation and ethical guidelines in fundraising.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
